“Heaven and earth will pass away but my Words will never pass away” (Matthew 24:35)
“Therefore, keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come” (Matthew 24:42)
“So you also must be ready because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him” (Matthew 24:44)
SIGNS OF THE END OF THE AGE (vs. 1-35)
- Many deceivers will come and say I am the Christ (v. 5)
- There will be wars among nations and kingdom (v. 6)
- Famine, earthquakes will occur in many places (v. 7)
- Believers will be hated and persecuted (v. 9)
- Many will turn away from faith and betray each other (v. 10)
- Many false prophets will appear to deceive people (v. 11)
- False Christ and prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles (v. 24)
- Sun will be darkened. Moon will not give light. Stars will fall from the sky and the heavenly bodies will be shaken (v. 29)
THE DAY AND HOUR UNKNOWN (vs. 36-51)
No one knows about what day or hour, not even the angels in heaven nor the Son but only the Father. It will be like the days of Noah when people were eating, drinking, marrying up to the day Noah entered the ark. So, we must be ready, for He will come anytime unexpected.
A faithful and wise servant will always be doing what the master had entrusted him. When he returns, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. But a wicked servant who spends his time eating and drinking with drunkards will be cut into pieces and be assigned to a place with the hypocrites.
LESSON:
- Do not be deceived by people claiming to be the Christ.
- Despite of political turmoil and natural disturbances, always keep in mind that God is on the throne and everything is under His control.
- Be faithful and stand firm until the Lord returns.
- Do not be deceived by false prophets who perform great signs and miracles.
- Believe and obey God’s Word that never pass away.
- Keep watch and stay alert in anticipation of the Lord’s coming.
