[:en]SCRIPTURE:  ACTS 24

“I have the same hope in God as these men that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked” (Acts 24:15)

THE TRIAL BEFORE FELIX (vs. 1-27)

Ananias the high priest, together with some of the elders and a lawyer named Tertullus brought their charges against Paul before governor Felix.  Tertullus started to flatter Felix (vs. 2, 8).  Then he slandered Paul (vs. 5-8) and brought in false witnesses (v. 9).  Tertullus was a flatterer, an accuser and a liar.  Paul defended himself with his life (vs. 11-13), his faith (vs. 14-16) and his service to his nation (v. 17).

Felix kept Paul under guard giving him some freedom for his friend to take care of his needs.  Several days later, he and his wife Drusilla listened to Paul speaking about faith in God.  He talked on righteousness, self-control and the forthcoming judgment. Felix knew the truth and was convicted but he refused to boey the turth.  Drusilla heard the Word, had the chance to repent but did not make any decision.   Because Felix wanted to grant favor to the Jews, he left Paul in prison until he was succeeded by Porcius Festus.
