[:en]SCRIPTURE:  ACTS 25

“If, however, I am guilty of doing anything deserving death, I do not refuse to die.  But if the charges brought against me by these Jews are not true, no one has the right to hand me over to them.  I appeal to Caesar!” (Acts 25:11)

THE TRIAL BEFORE FESTUS (vs. 1-12)

A multitude of Jews asked Festus to bring Paul to Jerusalem for trial so that they could ambush him on the way.  But God guided Festus to refuse their request.  After Festus had conferred with his council, he consented to Paul’s request to appeal to Caesar.

FESTUS CONSULS KING AGRIPPA (vs. 13-22)

A few days later, King Agrippa and his wife Bernice visited Festus.  Bernice was the older sister of Drusilla, Felix’s wife.  Festus discussed Paul’s case with Agrippa.  Agrippa told Festus that he would like to hear from Paul himself.

PAUL BEFORE AGRIPPA (vs. 23-27)

The next day, Festus ordered Paul to be brought in the presence of Agrippa and Bernice.  He told Agrippa that before Paul could be sent to Caesar, he had to write the charges against him.

During Paul’s trial, all the people involved admitted that he was not worthy of death and should have been released.  Captain Claudius Lysias said that he had no case against Paul (vs. 23-29).  Festus also agreed that Paul had done nothing worthy of death (v. 25)[:]
