[:en]SCRIPTURE:  JOB 7

“Remember O God, that my life is but a breath; my eyes will never see happiness again” (Job 7:7)

“What is man that you make so much of him, that you give him so much attention, that you examine him every morning and test him every moment?” (Job 7:17-18)

Job talked to God the futility of his life.  He did not want God to keep him alive.  His body is clothed with worms and scabs with broken skin.  His days were swifter than a weaver’s shuttle without hope.  His days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle and his life was but a breath.  His spirit was in anguish, his soul was in bitterness, futility and misery.  That was why he preferred death for his days had no meaning.  He asked God either to pardon his offense and forgive him if he had sinned.  Otherwise, he wanted God to take his life.

REFLECTION:

In our lives,  we may encounter unbearable hardship, sickness, or misfortune, and we would prefer to die rather than live.  That is why hurting people need encouragement.  May we pray for wisdom to say the right words at the right time to those in suffering.  May our words be like healing medicine and refreshing water to the hopeless and helpless people.
