[:en]SCRIPTURE: JOB 14
“Man born of woman is of few days and full of trouble. He springs up like a flower and withers away; like a fleeting shadow, he does not endure” (Job 14:1-2)
“Man’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months, and have set limits he cannot exceed” (Job 14:5)
“But man dies and is laid low; he breathes his last and is no more. As water disappears from the sea or a riverbed becomes parched and dry, so man lies down and does not rise; till the heavens are not more, men will not awake or be roused from their sleep” (Job 14:10-12)
“Surely then you will count my steps but not keep track of my sin. My offense will be sealed up in a bag; you will cover over my sin” (Job 14:16-17)
Job described a man is like a flower that withers like a fleeting shadow and evaporating water. His days are numbered without a future. A tree that is cut down will grow again, but what about a man? However, in spite of his suffering, Job still trusted in God’s faithfulness and mercy when he said: “Surely then, you will count my steps but not keep track of my sin. My offense will be sealed up in a bag; you will cover over my sin” (vs. 16-17)[:]
