[:en]SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 8

“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!  You have set your glory above the heavens” (Psalm 8:1)

“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?  You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor” (Psalm 8:3-5)

God made the heavens, the moon and stars.  But He also made man in His image and made him ruler over the works of His hands.  He put all flocks, herds, the beasts of the field, the birds of the air and the fish of the sea under His feet.

When man sinned, he lost his dominion over the earth.  But when Jesus came to earth, He exercised the dominion that Adam lost.  He ruled over the fish (Luke 5:1-6, Mat. 17:24-27, John 21:1-6), over the fowls (Luke 22:34) and over the beasts (Mark 1:13; 11:1-7)

Why are we important to God?

  1. God shared his dominion with us
  2. God has a purpose for us to fulfill
  3. God died on the cross to purchase the salvation of the lost
  4. God wants His people to reign over a renewed earth
  5. God wants us to “reign in life” through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Why should we praise the Lord?

  1. He made man in the image of God as his greatest creation
  2. He made our position as little lower than God
  3. He gave us dominion so that we can reign in life through Christ to have victory against sin and temptation.
  4. He gave us the authority to reign with Him forever and ever.
  5. He promised to redeem our body so that we shall see Him and meet Him face to face.
