[:en]SCRIPTURE:  JOB 29

“I put righteousness as my clothing, justice was my robe and my turban” (Job 29:14)

“I was eyes to the blind, and fee to the lame.  I was a father to the needy; I took up the case of the stranger.  I broke the fangs of the wicked and snatched the victims from their teeth” (Job 29:15-17)

Job was looking back the “the good old days” that he had.  He mentioned about all his happy experiences and blessings that he had enjoyed.

Here are the services that he had done for others:

  1.  I rescued the poor who cried for help and the fatherless who had none to assist him (v. 12)
  2. I helped the dying man and the widow (v. 13)
  3. I was eyes to the blind and feet to the lame (v. 15)
  4. I was a father to the needy, and I took up the case of the strangers (v. 16)
  5. I broke the fangs of the wicked and snatched the victims from their teeth (v. 17)
  6. I give them counsel with gentle words (vs. 21-23)
  7. I chose the way for them and sat as the chief to comfort the mourners (v. 25)

Here are the blessings that Job enjoyed before:

  1. God’s watched over me (v. 2)
  2. His lamp shone upon my head and his light through darkness (v. 3)
  3. The Almighty was with me and my children were around me (v. 5)
  4. My path was drenched with cream and the rock poured out for me streams of olive oil (v. 6)
  5. I have a seat in the public square (v. 7)
  6. Young men, old men, and chief men all respected me (vs. 8-10)
  7. People spoke well of me (v. 11)

Time flies so fast.  Today will soon be a yesterday.  Let us use today to grow in Christ and prepare for tomorrow.  Let us let the past be a history.[:]
