[:en]SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 2

“Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.  Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling.  Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way; for his wrath can flare up in a moment.  Blessed are all those who take refuge in him” (Psalm 2:10-12)

Psalms 2 focuses on national prophecy.  It presents the judgment of the Gentile nations.   The nations are rebelling against God and His rule.  They have rejected God’s people (Israel), God’s Word and Jesus Christ.  They want freedom from God.

God’s responses to people (vs. 4-5)

God is on His throne in heaven and He laughs.  He rebukes them in His anger and terrifies them in His wrath.

God Speaks to all nations (v. 6)

The Father announces that He had installed His king on Zion, His holy hill.   He will proclaim the decrees of the Lord and make the nations his inheritances and possession.  He will rule them with iron scepter and dash them to pieces like pottery.

God’s concluding counsel (vs. 10-12)

  1. Be wise
  2. Be warned
  3. Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling
  4. Kiss the Son, pay homage and surrender to Him
  5. Take refuge in Him.

The way to real freedom is submission to God.  Rebellion against God is inviting bondage and destruction.  The world is in turmoil and united against God.  But God is on His throne and is in control of everything.  If you want to receive blessings, listen to God’s voice by putting your trust in Him.[:]
