[:en]SCRIPTURE: PSALM 39
“Show me, O Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting is my life. You have made my days a mere handbreadth; my span of my years is as nothing before you. Each man’s life is but a breath” (Psalm 39:4-5)
“Man is a mere phantom as he goes to and fro: He bustles about, but only in vain; he heaps up wealth, not knowing who will get it” (Psalm 39:65)
“Hear my prayer, O Lord, listen to my cry for help; be not deaf to my weeping, For I dwell with you as an alien, a stranger, as all my fathers were. Look away from me, that I may rejoice again, before I depart and am no more” (Psalm 39:12-13)
In the presence of the wicked men, David kept his tongue from sin and put a muzzle on his mouth. He was silent and still. But he opened his mouth and called on God to hear his prayer and listen to his cry. He acknowledged that man’s life is but a breath. He heaps up wealth not knowing who will get it. But David’s hope was in the Lord that he may rejoice again. His hope was the confidence that God was at work. His hope was the living hope for the future.
How about you? What is the basis of your hope? If your hope is in God, you can have joy, confidence, and encouragement. You will be free from worries because you trust Him to give you hope.
