“Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise, in the city of our God, his holy mountain” (Psalm 48:1)
“For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end” (Psalm 48:14)
The Psalmist described the city of Jerusalem. It is the city of God, His holy mountain, Zion. The enemies tried to capture Zion, but when they saw her, they were astounded and fled in terror.
WHAT IS THE CITY OF JERUSALEM?
- It is a beautiful city, the joy of the whole earth (v. 2)
- It is a city of refuge, a fortress for the people (v. 3)
- It is a city of God, the Lord Almighty, which is secured forever (v. 8)
- It is a city of judgment for the wicked (v. 11)
- It is a city of righteousness where His name is praise and His people rejoice (v. 10)
Indeed, great is our God and He is worthy of our praise. Have you experienced the greatness of God? Is God your refuge? Is He your guide even unto death? Remember, He is our God forever and forever.
