[:en]SCRIPTURE: PSALM 57
“Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed” (Psalm 57:1)
“Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth” (Psalm 57:3, 11)
“My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music” (Psalm 57:7)
“I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies” (Psalm 57:9-10)
David wrote this song when he fled from Saul into the cave. While inside the cave, he asked God to have mercy on him as he took refuge in the shadow of His wings. He believed that God was loving and faithful who would defend and save him. He exalted God by singing and making music in harp and lyre. His heart is steadfast in praising and thanking God.
Are you in a cave now? Your “cave” may be a sick room, a troubled home or a difficult place of ministry. Follow David’s pattern. He had faith in God. He was confident of God’s protection under His care. He trusted His love and faithfulness and exalted Him by singing praises to Him. This approach worked for David. It will also work for you in God’s care. Remember that God’s great love reaches to the heavens and His faithfulness reaches to the skies. Therefore, exalt and glorify Him.
