[:en]SCRIPTURE: PSALM 62
“My soul find rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken” (Psalm 62:1-2)
“”My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge” (Psalms 62:7-8)
“Do not trust in extortion or take pride in stolen goods; though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them” (Psalm 62:10)
“One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong, and that you, O Lord, are loving. Surely you will reward each person according to what he has done” (Psalm 62:11-12)
David found rest in God when he waited silently, expectantly and continually upon the Lord.
The assurances of waiting on the Lord:
- God is our salvation (v. 1) – Salvation here is not salvation for sin but salvation from danger. David knew God was his rock and defense.
- God is our expectation (v. 5) – David looked to God. He poured out his heart and trusted him to be his refuge.
- God is our vindication (v. 12) – David concluded with: “Surely you will reward each person according to what he has done” . He relieved all his burdens upon the Lord and let God be his judge.
We are living in a dangerous world. We never know what will happen to us but we have the assurance that God will save us from danger for He is our rock, our refuge and our salvation. What expectations are you looking for? Is it yourself, your wealth, your power, your influence or your friend? Let your expectation be God, who is our hope.
When there is cruelty and injustice in this world, do not vindicate yourself for vindication comes from God. So, when you are facing difficulties with people or circumstances that are beyond your control, wait on the Lord and allow Him to be all that you need.[:]
