[:en]SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 69

“But I pray to you, O Lord, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sture salvation.  Rescue me from the mire, do not let me sink; deliver me from those who hate me, from the deep waters” (Psalm 13-14)

“Answer me, O Lord, out of the goodness of your love; in your great mercy turn to me.  Do not hide your face from your servant; answer me quickly, for I am in trouble.  Come near and rescue me; redeem me because of my foes” (Psalm 69:16-18)

“I am in pain and distress; may your salvation, O God, protect me.  I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving” (Psalm 69:29-30)

“The Lord hears the needy and does not despise his captive people” (Psalm 69:33)

David was in hot water.  He was sinking in mire depths.  His eyes failed and his throat was parched.  His enemies out number his hairs coming to destroy him without cause.  He called on the Lord.  He prayed to God to show His great love and save him.  David went from prayer to praise.  He praised God’s name in song and glorify Him with thanksgiving (v. 20)

A COMPARISON OF DAVID AND CHRIST’S SUFFERING

  1.  1.  Psalm 69:7 – Those who hate me without reason out number the hairs of         my head; many are my enemies without cause; those who seek to destroy me, I am forced to restore what I did not steal.

John 15:25 – They hated me without reasons.

2.  Psalm 69:8 – I am a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my own mother’s son.

John 7:5 – For even his own brothers did not believe in him.

3.  Psalm 69:9 – For zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those  who insult you fall on me.

John 2:17 – Zeal for your house will consume me

4.  Psalm 69:21 –  They put gall in my food and gave me vinegar for my thirst.

Mat. 27:48 – Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge.  He filled it with      vinegar, put it on a stick and offered it to Jesus to drink.

5.  Psalm 69:25 –  May their place be deserted; let there be no one to dwell in      their tents.

Acts 1:20 – May his place be deserted; let there be no one to dwell in it.

Sometimes, we bear reproach because of others.   We are lonely and brokenhearted.  However, as His children, we share in the fellowship of His sufferings.  And we can be an encouragement to others who need healing.  But in the midst of our trials and sorrows, learn to sing praises to God, magnify the Lord and give Him thanks.
