[:en]SCRIPTURE: PSALM 44
“In God we make our boast all day long, and we will praise your name forever” (Psalm 44:8)
“Rise up and help us; redeem us because of your unfailing love” (Psalm 44:26)
The Psalmist heard the history of the Jewish people that their fathers had told them of what God had done for them. God delivered them from Egypt. He opened the Red Sea and guided them thru the wilderness. He gave victories against the giant armies of their enemies. And He opened the Jordan River for them to conquer the Promised Land.
But now, the Psalmist was confused because of their present situation. The people were being slaughtered as sheep. Others were scattered around different nations. There were sold like commodities. They became reproach to their neighbors, a scorn and derision to those all around them (v. 13). This had happened because the people rebelled against God. They worshipped idols and turned their hearts from from God. So, God had to chastened them.
The Psalmist wrote: “Awake, O Lord, Why do you sleep? Rouse yourself!. Do not reject us forever. Why do you hide your face and forget our misery and oppression? We were brought down to the dust, and our bodies cling to the ground. Rise up and help us. Redeem us because of your unfailing love” (vs. 23-26)
Have you reviewed the history of your life? What great things had God done for you? Do you show your appreciation by worshipping, praising and serving Him? Are you worshipping Him, reading His Word and obeying His commands?
When you are facing a difficult situation, do you turn to God for help? Have you felt that God is sleeping and does not care to listen to your cry? Remember, God is not asleep. He is watching and working for you. He may delay but He will never deny you. Be patient and wait for His plan in His time for you.
