[:en]SCRIPTURE: PSALM 101
“I will sing of your love and justice; to you, O Lord, I will sing praise. I will be careful to lead a blameless life – when will you come to me?” (Psalm 101:1-2)
“My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; he whose walk is blameless will minister to me” (Psalm 101:6)
“No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence” (Psalm 101:7)
David expressed his determination and dedication to the Lord in this Psalm. He used the word “I will” 8 times and “I will not 3 times:
- I will sing of your love and justice (v. 1a)
- I will sing praise to you, O Lord (v. 1b)
- I will be careful to lead a blameless life (v. 2a)
- I will walk in my house with blameless heart (vs. 2b)
- I will set before my eyes no vile things (v. 3a)
- I will NOT cling to the deeds of faithless men (v. 3b)
- I will NOT do evil (v. 4)
- I will put to silence whoever slanders his neighbor in secret (v. 5a)
- I will NOT endure those with haughty eyes and proud hearts (v. 5b)
- I will put to silence all the wicked in the land (v. 8a)
- I will cut off every evildoer from the city of the Lord (v. 8b)
The Psalmist hated two kinds of heart – a perverse heart (v. 4) and a proud heart (v. 5). He wanted to have a blameless heart (v. 2) A blameless heart is a perfect heart. It is one that has integrity and not divided. He wanted his heart to be united and wholly fixed upon the Lord. He wanted God to reign in his heart and make him walk in a perfect way.
How about you? What is the condition of your heart? Ask God to unite your heart. Pray that God will reign in your heart so that your influence will be felt by people around you.[:]
