[:en]SCRIPTURE: PSALM 119 (Verses 97-120)
“How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” (Psalm 119:103)
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path” (Psalm 119:105)
“You statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart” (Psalm 119:111)
“You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word” (Psalm 119:114)
MEM (vs. 97-104)
The Word of God tastes sweet to those who have the spiritual appetite. The scripture may taste sour when we read things that convicts us, but it will turn sweet, sweeter than honey. It becomes a healing medicine and the food for the inner person. Job said: “I have treasured the word of His mouth more than my daily bread” (Job 23:12). Jeremiah said: “When your word came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight” (Jer. 15:16). Jesus said: “Man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Mat. 4:4). And Peter told us to crave for the pure milk of the Word so that by it, you may grow up in your salvation” (1 Peter 2:2)
Do you have the appetite for the sweetness of the Word of God?
NUN (vs. 105 – 112)
We are living in a dark world. People are making foolish decision, walking in the wrong direction and blinded by the temptations of the world. We need a lamp and a light to make us see and guide our path. Let the Word of God be the light to guide you walk through the dark world today.
SAMEKH (VS. 113-120)
These are the important messages that the Psalmist emphasized in verses 113-114:
- I hate double minded men
- I love your law
- Your are my refuge and my shield
- I have put my hope in your word.
A) – A double minded man is unreliable. His thoughts are vain and empty. We need to have a firm mind and a stable thought to develop good character.
B) – The law of God is pure. We need to keep it in our hearts and meditate day by day.
C) – God is our refuge and shield. When all kinds of enemies attack us, run and hide in the shadow of Lord Jesus Christ. Seek protection and stay safe in His care.
D) – Our hope should be in His Word. People give us false hope. They do not honor their words. They do not keep their promises. But Jesus is the real hope that never fails.
Learn the Word of God. Love it and live it. Let it be your lamp and light. Hate evil, hide in Christ and hope in God’s Word.[:]
