[:en]SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 133
“How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!  It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the bear, running down on Aaron’s beard, down upon the collar of his robes.  It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion.  For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore” (Psalm 133:1-3)

Disunity is very common among families.  We see in the Bible that Abraham and Lot, Cain and Abel, Isaac and Ishmael, Jacob and Laban, and Joseph’s brothers did not dwell together in unity.

God wants His children to be united.  Unity is not uniformity.  Uniformity can be manufactured by manipulating people and exerting pressure.  But true unity only comes from God by His Spirit.  When a choir sings together, they are in unison.  But when they sing in harmony, that is unity.

David gave us two descriptions of spiritual unity.  It is like the precious oil poured upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments (v. 2).  Aaron wore a garment with breastplate that had 12 stones representing 12 tribes of Israel.  When the oil came down on Aaron’s head, it bathed all the 12 stones and became one in that anointing oil.  It is a picture of the Holy Spirit of God who baptizes us into the Body of Christ and gives us spiritual unity.

The Spiritual unity is fragrant like oil and also fruitful like dew of Hermon falling on Mount Zion with God’s blessings.

Let us pray for spiritual unity.  Let us be a peacemaker and become fragrant oil and fruitful dew in this world.  Let us strive to maintain the unity in our family, in our church, in our society and in our nation.
