[:en]SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 135

“Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant” (Psalm 135:3)

“I know that the Lord is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods” (Psalm 135:5)

“Your name, O Lord, endures forever, your renown, O Lord, through all generations” (Psalm 135:13)

“The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.  They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see; they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths.  Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them” (Psalm 135:15-18)

The word ‘praise” was used eleven times in this Psalm.

Reasons why the Lord deserves our heartfelt praise:

  1. He is the God of salvation (v. 4) – He has chosen Israel to be His treasured possession
  2. He is the God of creation (vs. 5-7) – He made the heavens, the sea, the clouds, lighting, rain and wind.
  3. He is the God of history (vs. 8-14) – He delivered the Israelites from captivity in Egypt.
  4. He is the God above all gods (vs. 15-18) – Idols are silver and gold made by the hands of men.  They have mouth but cannot speak, eyes but cannot see, ears but cannot hear.  They have no breath in their mouths.  Our God is a great and living God.

Praise the Lord, for He is good (v. 3)  Praise the Lord for His redemption (v. 4).  Praise the Lord for He is great (v. 5).  Praise the Lord for what He does (vs. 6-10).  Praise the Lord for His name endures forever (v. 13).  Praise the Lord for His compassion and vindication for His people (v. 14).  Praise the Lord, O house of Israel.  Praise the Lord, O house of Aaron (v. 19).  Praise the Lord, O house of Levi, Praise the Lord you who fear Him (v. 20).  Praise the Lord from Zion.  Praise the Lord (v. 21)

This Psalm started with ‘PRAISE THE LORD” (v. 1) and ended with “PRAISE THE LORD” (v. 21).  Let us all PRAISE THE LORD![:]
