[:en]SCRIPTURE: PSALM 137
“How can we sing the songs of the Lord while in a foreign land? If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill. May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth” (Psalm 137:4-6)
This Psalm was written when the Israelites were in exile at Babylon,. The Babylonians taunted the Jews by saying “Sing us one of the songs of Zion” (v. 3). The Jews answered: “How can we sing the Lord’s song in a foreign land?” (v. 4)
The Jews lost their song because they sinned against God. Instead of walking with the Lord, they were living on memories. They were looking for revenge because their babies were dashed against the stones.
Can we sing a song in a foreign land? The answer is Yes. The Lord Jesus Christ sang the song of Zion in the upper room during the night when He was betrayed. Paul sang a song while in jail. David lost his song but when he confessed his son, God restored him with joy.
When we lose our song, we are pitiful, lonely and looking for revenge. Let us get back that song by confessing our sins to the Lord and leave the judgment to God.[:]
