[:en]SCRIPTURE: PSALM 141
“May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice” (Psalm 141:3)
“Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips, Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, to take part in wicked deeds with men who are evildoers; let me not eat of their delicacies” (Psalm 141:3-4)
“But my eyes are fixed on you, O Sovereign Lord; in you I take refuge – do not give me over to death” (Psalm 141:8)
When David called on the Lord, his prayer was like incense set before God. He lifted his hands like the evening sacrifice.
David’s prayer:
- Set a guard over my mouth and keep watch over the door of my lips (v. 3)
- Keep my heart away from evil and wicked deeds (v. 4)
- Let a righteous man strike and rebuke me (v. 5)
- Throw down the evildoers and wicked men (v. 6)
- I take refuge in you. Do not give me over to death (v. 8)
- Keep me from the snares and straps of the evildoers (v. 9)
- Let the wicked fall into their own nets while I pass by in safety (v. 10)
As children of God, we are given the privilege of prayer. Mix your prayer with adoration, confession, petition, thanksgiving and submission. Let it be like fragrant incense going up to God.[:]
