[:en]SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 146

“Praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord, O my soul.  I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live” (Psalm 146:1-2)

“Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save” (Psalm 146:3)

“Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them – the Lord, who remains faithful forever” (Psalm 146:5-6)

Starting this chapter until Psalm 150, all verses begin with ‘PRAISE THE LORD”.  The  Psalmist praised the Lord as long as he lives.  He put his trust in God because his hope is in the Lord.

HOW THE PSALMIST DESCRIBED THE GOD OF JACOB:

  1. He is the maker of heaven and earth, the sea and everything in it who remains faithful forever (v. 6)
  2. He is the judge who upholds the cause of the oppressed (v. 7a)
  3. He is the Father who gives food to the hungry (v. 7b)
  4. He is the redeemer that sets prisoners free (v. 7c)
  5. He is the healer that gives sight to the blind (v. 8a)
  6. He is the comforter who lifts up those who are bowed down (v. 8b)
  7. He is the protector who watches over the aliens (v. 9a)
  8. He is the provider of the fatherless and the widows (v. 9b)
  9. He is the king that reigns forever for all generations (v. 10)

Praise the Lord and call upon him when you need help.  For He is the Maker of heaven, the Judge, the Father, the Redeemer, the Healer, the Comforter, the Protector, the Provider and our King who reigns forever.[:]
