[:en]SCRIPTURE:  PROVERBS 22

“A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold” (Proverbs 22:1)

“Humility and fear of the Lord bring wealth  and honor and life” (Proverbs 22:4)

“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it” (Proverbs 22:6)

“Do not exploit the poor because they are poor and do not crush the needy in court, for the Lord will take up their case and will plunder those who plunder them” (Proverbs 22:22-23)

“Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared” (Proverbs 22:24-25)

“Do not be a man who strikes hands in pledge or puts up security for debts;  If you lack the means to pay, your very bed will be snathed form under you” (Proverbs 22:26-27)

“Do not move an ancient boundary stone set up by your forefathers” (Proverbs 22:28)

THE DO’S

  1. Have a good name (v. 1)
  2. Be prudent (v. 3)
  3. Be humble (v. 4)
  4. Train a child in the way he should go (v. 6)
  5. Be generous (vs. 9)
  6. Have a pure heart and speak graciously (v. 11)
  7. Accept the rod of discipline (v. 15)
  8. Listen to wise sayings (v. 17)
  9. Trust in the Lord (v. 19)
  10. Listen to true counsel and knowledge so that you can give sound answers (v. 20-21)
  11. Be a skilled man (v. 29)

THE DON’TS

  1. Do not sow wickedness (v. 8)
  2. Do not be a mocker that causes strife and quarrels (v. 10)
  3. Do not say unfaithful words (v. 12)
  4. Do not be lazy (v. 143)
  5. Do not commit adultery (v. 14)
