[:en]SCRIPTURE: PROVERBS 7
“My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you. Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye” (Proverbs 7:1-2)
“Do not let your heart turn to her ways or stray into her paths. Many are the victims she has brought down; her slain are a mighty throng” (Proverbs 7:25-27)
WARNINGS AGAINST THE ADULTERESS:
- She dresses like a prostitute with crafty intent to lure simple young men from every corner of the streets (v. 7-8)
- She invites him to her house with expensive tapestries in her bed (v. 14-16)
- She wears the most aromatic perfume with myrrh aloes and cinnamon (v. 17-18)
- She leads him astray with her persuasive words and smooth talk (v. 21)
- She brings him down like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose lading him down to the chambers of death (v. 22-27)
Keep God’s word and commands. Guard His teachings as the apple of your eyes. Bind them on your fingers, write them on the tablet of your heart. Let wisdom be your sister and understanding as your kinsman so that you will not be tempted by the adulteress with her seductive words (vs. 1-5). Then, your heart will see through her enticement and have no desire for her.[:]
