[:en]SCRIPTURE:  SONG OF SONGS 2

“I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys” (Song of Songs 2:1)

“Like a lily among thorns is my darling among the maidens” (Song of Songs 2:2)

“Like an apple tree among the trees of the foreste is my lover among the young men.  I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste” (Song of Songs 2:3)

“My lover is mine and I am his; he browses among the lilies” *Song of Songs 2:16)

HOW THE BELOVED SEES HER LOVER

  1. He is among the young men  like an apple tree among the trees of the forest (v. 3a)
  2. He is her shade (v. 3b)
  3. His fruit is sweet to her taste (v. 3c)
  4. He loves her and takes her to the banquet hall (v. 4)
  5. He gives her strength (v. 5)
  6. He gives her protection (v. 6)
  7. He leaps across the mountain and over the hills to come to her (v. 8)
  8. He stands behind the wall and gazes through the windows (v. 9)
  9. He tells her to follow him (vs. 10-13)
  10. He is her lover (v. 16)

HOW THE LOVER SEES HIS BELOVED

  1. She is his darling among the maidens (v. 2)
  2. She is his dove hiding in the clefts of the rock, hiding on the mountain side (v. 14a)
  3. Her voice is sweet (v. 14b)
  4. Her face is lovely (v. 14c)

In a relationship, expect both pleasant and painful experiences.

PLEASANT EXPERIENCES

  1. Provision – banquet (v. 3)
  2. Love and care – strengthen me with raisins, refresh me with apples full of love (v. 5)
  3. Protection – left hand under my head and right arm embraces me (v. 6)

PAINFUL EXPERIENCES

  1. Hardships – mountains (v. 8)
  2.  Hindrances – walls (v. 9)
  3. Obstacles – winter seasons (v. 11)
  4. Enemies – foxes (v. 15)

But all can be overcome if both stays together through thick and thin.

Always have a close relationship with our Lord.  He will come (v. 8), look (v. 9) and speak (v. 10) to us.  He had overcome all the obstacles in order to save us.  He loves us and wants us to be our guide.  Are you willing to spend time in loving communion with Christ?[:]
