[:en]SCRIPTURE:  ISAIAH 42

“I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and the release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness” (Isaiah 42:6-7)

“I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols” (Isaiah 42:8)

“Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands and all who live in them” (Isaiah 472:20)

“But those who trust in idols, who say to images, ‘You are our gods” will be turned back in utter shame” (Isaiah 42:17)

THE SERVANT OF THE LORD (vs. 1-9)

Jesus Christ is the Servant of the Lord chosen by God to bring justice on earth.  He became a human being to fulfill God’s plan of salvation for mankind.

SING PRAISE TO THE LORD (vs. 10-17)

The Lord will march out like a mighty warrior.  He will raise the battle cry and triumph over his enemies (v. 13).  Then they will sing songs of praise to the Lord.  But those who trust in idols will be turned back in shame (v. 17)

ISRAEL BLIND AND DEAF (vs. 18-25)

Israel had been plundered and looted.  They were like prisoners being trapped in pits with no one to rescue them.  It was because they were blind and deaf.  They had sinned against the Lord and did not follow His laws.
