[:en]SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 34
“For the Lord has a day of vengeance, a year of retribution, to uphold Zion’s cause” (Isaiah 34:8)
“He allots their portions; his hand distributes them by measure. They will posses it forever and dwell there from generation to generation” (Isaiah 34:17)
When Israel disobeyed God, He chastened them. But when His chastening had accomplished its purpose, God fought for them. He kept His covenant with Abraham and Abraham’s descendants.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN GOD JUDGES AGAINST THE NATIONS:
- All the people will totally be destroyed (v. 2)
- All the stars of the heavens will be dissolved and the sky rolled up like a scroll and all the starry host will fall. (v. 4)
- All the wild oxen, the bull calves and the great bulls will fall together (v. 7a)
- Edom’s streams will be turned into pitch, her dust into burning sulfur, her land become blazing pitach (v. 9)
- Edom’s kingdom will disappear and princess will vanish away (v. 12)
- Edom will become a haunt for jackals, a home for owls (v. 13)
- Desert creatures, hyenas, wild goats and falcons will gather (v. 14-15)
