[:en]SCRIPTURE: EZEKIEL 32
“For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “The sword of the king of Babylon will come against you. It will cause your horder to fall by the swords of mighty men – the most ruthless of all nations. They will shatter the pride of Egypt, and all her hordes will be overthrown. I will destroy all her cattle from beside abundant waters no longer to be stirred by the foot of man or muddled by the hoofs of cattle. Then I will let her waters settle and make her streams flow like oil, declares the Sovereign Lord” (Ezekiel 32:11-14)
“When I make Egypt desolate and stip the land of everyting in it, when I strike down all who live there, then they will know that I am the Lord” (Ezekiel 32:15)
A LAMENT FOR PHARAOH
This is a lament concerning Pharaoh king of Egypt of God God will do to him:
- I will cast my net over you and haul you up in my net (v. 3)
- I will throw you on the land and hurl you on the open field (v. 4a)
- I will let all the birds of the air settle on you and all the beasts of the earth gorge themselves on you (v. 4b)
- I will spread your flesh on the mountains and fill the valleys with your remains (v. 5)
- I will drench the land with your flowing blood all the way to the mountains and the ravines will be filled with your flesh (v. 6)
- I will snuff you out, cover the heavens, darken the stars, cover the sun and moon (v. 7)
- I will bring harkness over your land (v. 8)
- I will trouble the hearts of many peoples when I bring you destruction among the nations (v. 9)
- I will cause many people to be appalled at you and their kings will shudder with horror when I brandish my sword before them ()v. 10)
- I will destroy all her cattle from beside abundant waters (v. 13)
- I will let her waters settle and make her streams flow like oil (v. 14)
- I will make Egypt desolate and strip the land of everything in it (v. 15)
Egypt was like a lion among the nations, like a monster in the sea. But she would be caught in God’s net and thrown down on the open to be devoured by the birds of the air and beast of the earth. Their land would flow with blood. God would cover the heavens with darkness, the sun won’t shine and the moon won’t give its light. The king of Babylon will come with sword against their mighty men and shatter their pride. Egypt will be desolate. Pharaoh and all his hordes will be among the uncircumcised kille by the sword. Their allies – Assyria, Elan, Meshech, Tubal, Edom and Sidon – all came down to lay around her grave.[:]
