[:en]SCRIPTURE: AMOS 3
“Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7)
“They do not know how to do right” declares the Lord, “who hoard plunder and loot in their fortresses.” (Amos 3:10)
“On the day I punish Israel for her sins, I will destroy the altars of bethel; the horns of the altar will be cut off and fall to the ground. I” (Amos 3:14)
Since God had delivered the Jews from Egypt and called them His chosen people, they had the responsibility to be righteous. The Lord accused them of not knowing how to do right and hoarding plunder and loot in their fortresses. Therefore, judgement will come. An enemy will overrun the land, put down their strongholds and plunder their fortresses (v. 11)
Amos was blowing the trumpet to warn the people of the coming disaster. Those who refused to repent will face death. Only a remnant will be left.[:]
