[:en]SCRIPTURE: AMOS 4
“He who forms the mountains, creates the wind, and reveals his thoughts to man, he who turns dawn to darkness, and treads the high places of the earth – the Lord God Almighty is his name” (Amos 4:13)
God sent drought, famine, locusts, plagues, war and lots of catastrophes to Israel, but the people did not get the message. That is why the phrase “yet you have not returned to me” was mentioned five times (v. 6, 8, 9, 10, 11). The people still lived in drunkenness and luxuries. They were bringing sacrifices, giving out tithes and making thanksgiving and freewill offering, but they ignored God’s will to return to Him.
How about us? Are we living in luxury, carrying out religious duties while ignoring God’s call? Let us return to God and live a holy life in preparation to meet Him.[:]
