[:en]SCRIPTURE:  NAHUM 3

“King of Assyria, your shepherds slumber; your nobles lie down to rest.  Your people are scattered on the mountains with no one to gather them.  Nothing can heal you; your wound is fatal.  All who hear the news about you clap their hands at your fall, for who has not felt your endless cruelty?” (Nahum 3:18-19)

WOE TO NINEVEH (vs. 1-19)

The Assyrians worshiped Ishtar, a harlot, the mistress of sorceries, the goddess of war and secual love..  The people were enslaved by her prostitution and witchcraft.  God would expose Assyria’s nakedness, pealt her with filth and treat her with contempt.   Their soldiers were   drunkards unable to fight their enemies.  They will go into hiding seeking refuge from the enemy.

Nineveh’s defense fortress were like fig tree that falls when shaken.  Their troops were all women inadequate to defend their enemies.  Assyria had stripped other nations before, now, the fire will devour them and sword will cut them down like grasshoppers and locusts stripping the land.

The shepherds and leaders were dead and the sheep were scattered.  No one would care for them or gather them.  Assyria will collapse without any hope.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 falls when shaken.  Theri  troo[:]
