[:en]SCRIPTURE: MARK 16
Bible Verses”
” Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16:16)
“After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. 20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.” (Mark 16:19-20)
THE RESURRECTION (vs. 1-20)
Mary Magdalene, Mary, the mother of James and Salome brought spices to anoint Jesus at the tomb. But when they reached there, the stones of the tomb had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in white robes telling them that Jesus has risen. He told them to tell the disciples that He is going to meet them in Galilee. The women left the tomb frightened and bewildered.
then Jesus appeared first to Mary Magdalene. She went to tell the disciples but they did not believe. Afterward, Jesus appeared to two while they were walking and to the eleven as they were eating. He rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen. (v. 14)
Then Jesus gave them theses instructions:
- Go to the world and preach the good news to all creation.
- Baptize those who believe and they will be saved. Those who do not will be condemned.
- Those who believe in me can: drive out demons; speak in new languages; pick up snakes with their hands and drink deadly poison but won’t be hurt; and heal the sick.
After Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. The disciples started to preach everywhere. They performed signs with the Lord working in them.
THOUGHTS:
- “Unbelief” still existed among his disciples. Instead of rejoicing over God’s resurrection, they were mourning and weeping. Let us not become a weeping church but witnessing church. May the resurrection of Christ motivate us to witness and serve Him more.
- Jesus had completed His work on earth. He now sits at the right hand of the Father in heaven as our High Priest and advocate. He is still at work interceding for us. Let us allow Him to work through us by the power of His Holy Spirit.
