SCRIPTURE: ROMANS 11
Bible Verses:
“Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off.” (Romans 11:22)
“For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.” (Romans 11:32)
“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and[i] knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?”; For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.” (Romans 11:33-36)
THE REMNANT OF ISRAEL (vs. 1-10)
Although some Jews rejected Christ, but God had reserved a remnant chosen by His grace for Israel’s future.
INGRAFTED BRANCHES (vs. 11-24)
The transgressions of Israel brought salvation to the Gentiles. Those who do not persist in unbelief will be grafted again into their own olive tree.
ALL ISRAEL WILL BE SAVED (vs. 25-36)
Israel had experienced hardening in past until the full number of the Gentiles has come in. And so Israel will be saved because God has covenant with them to take away their sins (vs. 26-27)
DOXOLOGY (vs. 33-36)
The riches of His wisdom and knowledge is so deep. His judgment is unsearchable! Has anyone ever gave to God that He should repay him. All things are from him and through him. All glory be to him forever, Amen.
THOUGHTS:
God is great and gracious. He puts joy in our hearts and strength in our soul. We can not understand God’s plans and purpose, but we can worship and praise Him for who He is, for his arrangement of providence is the best.
PROOFS THAT THERE IS A FUTURE FOR ISRAEL:
- The Personal Proof of Paul (v. 1) – Paul was in rebellion and unbelief before but Jesus called him and he was converted.
- The Historical Proof (vs. 2-10) – In Old testament history, Elijah thought that he was the only one left but God told him He had reserved 7,000 who have not bowed to Baal.
- The Dispensational Proof (vs. 11-24) – The failure of the Jews had brought blessings to the world. But Paul looked forward to the day when Israel would receive the fullness of blessing as a nation.
- The Scriptural Proof (vs. 25-26) – In Old Testament, God had promised a deliverer to release and restore Israel. The nation of Israel will be redeemed and regenerated when the Jews will turn from it sins and trust Christ as its Redeemer.
DOXOLOGY:
A prayer of praise to God for His knowledge and wisdom. His judgment is unsearchable, His paths impossible of tracing out. His methods are beyond our comprehension. For He governs the universe in perfect wisdom, justice and love.
No one can know the mind of God. No one is qualified to be his counselor. God owes us nothing. He has absolute power and wisdom to rule the world. He desires our praise and honor.
