SCRIPTURE:  GALATIANS 6

BIBLE VERSES

Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.   Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:1-2)

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.  Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” (Galatians 6:7-8)

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.   Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” (Galatians 6:9-10)

May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.  Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation.” (Galatians 6:14-15)

DOING GOOD TO ALL ()vs. 1-10)

Paul gave his final advices to the Galatian believers as follows:

  1. If someone is caught in sin, restore him gently (v. 1a)
  2. Watch yourself or you may be tempted (v. 1b)
  3. Carry each other’s burden to fulfill the law of Christ. (v.2)
  4. Do not be proud (v. 3)
  5. Test your actions and do not compare yourself with someone else (v. 4)
  6. Carry your own load (v. 5)
  7. Share good things with the instructor of the Word (v. 6)
  8. You reap what you sow (v. 7)
  9. Your reap destruction when you sow to please your sinful nature (v. 8a)
  10. You reap eternal life when you sow to please the Spirit (v. 8b)
  11. Do not become weary or give up in doing good, for at a proper time, you will reap a harvest (v. 9)
  12. If you have the opportunity, do good to all people especially to the family of the believers (v. 10)

NOT CIRCUMCISION BUT A NEW CREATION (vs. 11-18)

Those circumcised tried to compel you to be circumcised for reason to boast about your flesh. We should never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Circumcision or uncircumcision means nothing.  What counts is a new creation.  Those who follow God’s command will have His peace and mercy.

Paul closed with this benediction:  “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen” (v. 18)

THOUGHT:

SPIRITUAL LIFE OF A TRUE BELIEVER WHO IS LIVING UNDER GRACE AND NOT UNDER THE LAW:

  1. He shows love to others.
  2. He bears spiritual fruits and seek to restore the fallen ones.
  3. He carries his own burden and help others to bear their burdens.
  4. He listens to the Word and share material blessings with others.
  5. He seeks God’s glory not man’s approval.
