SCRIPTURE:  HEBREWS 2

BIBLE VERSES:

But there is a place where someone has testified:  “What is mankind that you are mindful of them, a son of man that you care for him?  You made them a little lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor and put everything under their feet.” (Hebrews 2:6-8)

Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—  and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.” (Hebrews 2: 14-15)

For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.  Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.” (Hebrews 2:18-19)

WARNING TO PAY ATTENTION (vs. 1-4)

We must pay attention to the message of salvation.  This salvation was announced by the Lord to testify to it by signs, wonders and with various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit (v. 4)

JESUS MADE LIKE HIS BROTHERS (vs. 5-18)

Jesus was made lower than the angels and became man with flesh and blood so that he could taste death for everyone and make the salvation perfect.  By his sacrifice, he destroyed the power of death and became a faithful High Priest crowned with glory and honor.  “Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted” (v. 18)

THOUGHTS:

We have to pay attention to what God says in His Word and obey them.  His Word should not treated lightly.  Those who ignored or rejected His Word will be dealt with in the last days.

Since Jesus had experienced temptation and faced death, he understands how people feel when they are undergoing trials and sufferings.  What we need to do is to come to His presence in faith and trust in his deliverance.  He is a sympathetic priest to help us in our weakness.

Christ’s death and resurrection had set us free from fear of death.  To the believers, death is not the end but the doorway to a new life in heaven.  That is why it is important for us to share the truth to those close to us.
