Our Daily Scripture – 8/5/22

SCRIPTURE:  1 TIMOTHY 4

BIBLE VERSES:

“For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.” (1 Timothy 3:4-5)

“Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.  For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” (1 Timothy 3:8-9)

“That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.” ( 1 Timothy 3:10)

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” (1 Timothy 3″12)

“Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.” (1 Timothy 4:16)

INSTRUCTIONS TO TIMOTHY (vs. 1-16)

  1. Do not abandon faith and follow deceiving spirits taught by demons (v. 1)
  2. Do not listen to their hypocritical teachings and forbidding people to marry or abstain from certain food (v. 3)
  3. Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives tales (v. 7)
  4. Train yourself to be godly (v. 8)
  5. Set an example for believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity (v. 12)
  6. Devote yourselves to the public reading , teaching and preaching of scripture.
  7. Do not neglect your gift.   Use it to serve God (v. 14)
  8. Watch your life and doctrine closely and persevere in them (v.16)

THOUGHTS:

THREE QUALITIES OF A TRUE MINISTER:

  1. He Preaches the Truth – He stays true to his faith.  He preaches the Word of God and the basic principles of the Bible as spiritual food to nourish people.
  2. He Practises the Word – He is a godly minister by being example of faith in word, in behavior, in love, in spirit and purity.  He practises the Word of God as a spiritual exercise to attain godliness.
  3. He Progresses the Word – He is a growing minister who give importance to public reading of God’s Word.  He encourages believers to use their spiritual gifts and dedicate himself to the Lord.

Everything that God had created is good.  We should enjoy them with thanksgiving to the Lord.  We must also use our gifts to serve and honor God.  God can use us regardless of our age.  What is important is that we set a good example in our speech, life, love, faith and purity.
