SCRIPTURE: REVELATION 5
BIBLE VERSES:
“In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” (Revelation 5:12)
“Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” (Revelation 5:13)
THE SCROLL AND THE LAMB (vs. 1-14)
- John saw the Son of God with a scroll – Scroll represents the title deed to creation. Jesus received the scroll when He gave Himself up on the cross. He is the one worthy to break the seals and open the scroll because He had conquered and won the victory. He is the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of DAvid who has triumphed over Satan.
- John saw a Lamb – Jesus Christ was s a lamb, who was slain as a sacrifice for the sins of the world. He offered salvation to mankind.
- John heard the voice of thousands upon thousands of angels saying praises to God. They magnified His death for the redemption of a lost creation. Every creature in heaven and on earth, and under the earth or on the sea all sang praises, honor , glory and power to the Lamb.
THOUGHTS:
Jesus Christ is pictured as both a Lion (symbolizing His power and authority) and a lamb (symbolizing his submission to God’s will). As a Lion, he will one day bring judgment to the world. As a lamb, he had defeated all the forces of evil by dying on the cros,s.
All believers must worship God and praise Him for what He has done. He is now in heaven interceeding for us. Trust in him to find strength to face our present difficulties.
