SCRIPTURE:  REVELATION 10

BIBLE VERSES:

And he swore by him who lives for ever and ever, who created the heavens and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it, and said, “There will be no more delay!  But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets.” (Revelation 10:6-7)

“I took the little scroll from the angel’s hand and ate it. It tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it, my stomach turned sour.  Then I was told, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages and kings.” (Revelation 10:10-11)

THE ANGEL AND THE LITTLE SCROLL (vs. 1-11)

A mighty angel came down from heaven.  He was robed in a cloud with a rainbow above his head.  His face was like the sun and his legs were like fiery pillars.  He hold a scroll and planted his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land.  He shouted like the roar of a lion and the seven thunders spoke.  John was about to write down what he saw but a voice from heaven said:  “Seal up what the seven thunders have said and do not write it down” (v. 4).  The angel standing on the sea and land said: “There will be no delay”  But the mystery of God will be accomplished when the seventh angel will sound his trumpet. (vs. 6-7)

A voice from heaven told Joh to take the scroll from the angel and eat it.  When he ate it, it tasted as sweet as honey but when it reached his stomach, it turned sour.  Then John was told to prophesy about many peoples, nations, languages and kings.

THOUGHTS:

John was told to declare His message to the people through His Word.  The Word is sweet when you read it.  It turns sour on the stomach because of the incoming judgment.  The digesting of the Word prepared John for his continued ministry as a prophet.  Before we preach the gospel, we must take time reading and absorbing God’s Word.           .
