THOUGHTS;

Leprosy was a serious incurable disease before.  That is why God gave the priest all the information needed to detect the disease and make sure it did not spread.

Leprosy is a picture of sin.  The disease was not on the surface.  It was deeper than the skin.  Leprosy spreads and makes the person unclean so that he had to be isolated.  But our Lord had compassion on the lepers.  He touched them and cleansed them.

SIMILARITIES OF LEPROSY AND SIN (By Mr. Warren Wiersbe)

  1.  Leprosy is a contagious disease deeper than skin – Our sinful nature is the source of many troublers.  Sinners cannot be changed by shallow surface remedies.  They need to have their heart changed.
  2. Leprosy spreads to the whole body – Sin also spreads.  It begins with a thought,, followed by a desire and act that result in trouble.
  3. Leprosy defies so that those with leprosy must mark themselves as lepers and cory “Unclean, unclean”.  Sin also defies our minds, heart body and all that it touches.  One sinner can defile a whole household and community.
  4. Those with leprosy must isolate outside the camp.  Sin also isolates us from family, friends and God.
  5. Anything found defiled with leprosy must be burned.  The place for sin is the fires of judgment.
