Our Daily Scripture – 3/10/23

SCRIPTURE:  NUMBERS 34

BOUNDARIES OF CANAAN (vs, 1-29)

South – Some of the Desert of Zin along the border of Edom.  South boundary starts from the end of the Salt Sea continue on to Zin and south of Kadesh, Barnea, Hazar Addar and over to Azmon.  Then turn and join the Wadi of Egypt and end at the sea.

West – coast of the Great Sea.

North – From the Great Sea to Mount Hor to Lebo Hamath, Zedad Ziphron and end at Hazar Enan.

East – From Hazar Enan to Stepham, Ribbah, east side of Ain and continue along the slopes east of the Sea of Kinnereth.  Then the boundary will go down along the Jordan and end at the Salt Sea.

The land will be assigned by lot to 9-1/2 tribes excluding the tribe of Reuben, Gad and 1/2 tribe of Manasseh.  These 2-1/2 tribes had received their inheritance on the east side of the Jordan of Jericho towards the sunrise

NAMES OF THE MEN TO ASSIGN THE LAND FOR INHERITANCE:

  1. Tribe of Judah – Caleb
  2. Tribe of Simeon – Shemuel
  3. Tribe of Benjamin – Elidad
  4. Tribe of Dan – Buikki
  5. Tribe of Manasseh – Hanniel
  6. Tribe of Ephraim – Kemuel
  7. Tribe of Zebulun – Elizaphan
  8. Tribe of Issachar – Paltiel
  9. Tribe of Asher – Ahihud
  10. Tribe of Naphtali – Pedahel

THOUGHTS:

God assigned the tribes their inheritance and set their boundaries.  He used human leaders to do it.  Some land fronted on the wilderness; other portions faced the Great Sea and some are mountains.  Christian life is  a land of hills and valleys.  Be contended and do not be tempted to complain what God has assigned to you.  When you are tempted to complain, ponder on these verses: John 3:27 “A man can receive only what is given him from heaven.”  Philippians 4:11-13 – “I am not saying this because I am in need.  For I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.  I know what it is to be in need and I know what it is to have plenty.  I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  I can do everything through him who gives me strength”
