Our Daily Scripture – 3/14/23

SCRIPTURE:  DEUTERONOMY 2

WANDERINGS IN THE DESERT (vs. 1-23)

TERRITORIES THAT THE ISRAELITES PASS THROUGH:

– Seir (descendants of Esau)

– Desert of Moab (descendants of Lot)

– AR (descendants of Lot)

The Lord commanded them to cross their territory but do not harass them or provoke them to war.

DEFEAT OF SIHON, KING OF HESHBON (vs. 24-37)

Moses sent messenger to Sihon, King of Heshbon offering peace and asking the permission to pass through their country.  But Sihon, king of Heshbon refused.  So, the Lord commanded them to take possession of his country.  They were completely destroyed.  The Israelites killed all their men, women and children and got the ir livestock and the plunders.

THOUGHTS:

God instructed the nation not to meddle with the Edomites, Moabites or the Ammonites.   Thje people were to behave themselves as godly pilgrim and avoid creating troubles.  As Christians, we must not meddle in things that God had commanded us to avoid because He always has better things for His people.

When the Israelites passed through the land of Seir, Moab and Edom, God warned them to respect their territory and pay whatever they used.  In the same way, we must also act justly ind ealing with others.  By recognizing the rights of others and behaving wisely, we may be able to establish or restore a relationship.

The Israelites spent 40 years wandering in the wilderness because they disobeyed and rebelled against God’s authority.  Disobedience will make our life’s journey more difficult than necessary.  Follow God’s command and stick with Him whatever your situation and you will find life less complicated and more rewarding.
