Our Daily Scripture – 4/29/23

SCRIPTURE:  JOSHUA 14

DIVISION OF LAND WEST OF JORDAN (vs. 1-5)

Eleazar, the priest, son of Joshua alloted the land by drawing lots to the 9-1/2 tribes.  The son of Joseph had became two tribes – Manasseh and Ephraim.  The Levites were excluded from the inheritance but they were given towns to live in with pasture lands for their flocks and herds.

HEBRON GIVEN TO CALEB (vs. 6-15)

Joshua blessed Caleb and gave him Hebron as his inheritance.  Hebron used to be called Kiriath Arba after Arba, who was the greatest man among the Anakites.  So, Caleb was 40 years old when he was sent to explore the land.  Now that he was 85, he told Joshua to give him the hill country that the Lord had promised him.

THOUGHTS:

Through faith and patience, Caleb was able to claim the promise of Go and claim his inheritance after 45 years of waiting.  Let us learn to follow the example of Caleb of enduring t rials despite of our age with the “living hope’ to claim our inheritance through our faith in Christ.
