THOUGHTS:

Obedience would lift the Israelites higher, make them richer and keep them safer.  But disobedience will lowering them down to become poorer and unsafe.  Because they turned from God to idols and disobeyed His Word, they ended up seeing the enemy with sadness.

The severe warning tragically came true when Israel was defeated and carried away into captivity by Assyria  (722 BC) and Judah by Babylonia (586 BC).  Later in AD 70, Roman oppression forced many Jews to flee their homeland and scattered throughout various nations.

Much of the world’s evil is a result of people’s failure to acknowledge and serve God.  But in spite of it, remember that we must not lost hope because God has ultimate control of everything.
