SCRIPTURE: JUDGES 10
TOLA (vs. 1-2)
After Abimelech, Tola rose to save Israel. He lived in Shamir, in the hill country of Ephraim. He led Israel 23 years and was buried in Shamir.
Jair (vs. 3-5)
He had 30 sons who rode 30 donkeys. He controlled 30 towns in Gilead, which is called Havvoth Jair today. He led Israel for 22 years.
JEPHTHAH (vs. 6-18)
When the Israelites did evil in the eyes by serving Baal and the Ashtoreths, the gods of Aram, Sidon, Moab, Ammonites and Philistines, the Lord sold them into the hands of the Philistines and Ammonites for 18 years. Then, the Israelites cried out to the Lord and got rid of the foreign gods and served the Lord. When the Ammonites surround and camped in Gilead, the people of Gilead announced that whoever will launch the attach against the Ammonites will be their head.
THOUGHTS:
When the Israelites forsook God and worship the gods of the enemy, God had to chasten them by the invasion of the Ammonites. Confession of sins must be accompanied by repentance before God will hear our prayer.
