SCRIPTURE: JOSHUA 21
TOWNS FOR THE LEVITES (vs. 1-45)
THE LEVITES WERE GIVEN TOWNS TO LIVE IN AND PASTURE LANDS FOR THEIR LIVESTOCK AS FOLLOWS:
- Descendants of Aaron were allotted 13 towns.
- Descendants of Gershon was allotted 13 towns.
- Descendants of merari was allotted 12 towns
- Descendants of Kohathite were allotted 10 towns
So the total towns held by the Levites were 48 in all. The Lord gave them rest and not one of their enemies could withstand them. All the Lord’s promised to them were fulfilled.
THOUGHTS:
PROMISES THAT GOD HAD KEPT:
- Land to Israel – they entered Canaan and claim the land.
- Rest from war – they conquered all the enemies and enjoy their inheritance.
- 48 towns were given to the Levites – God’s servants live in different places to share His Word.
We can trust the Word of God because not one word of His promised had failed.
