SCRIPTURE:  1 SAMUEL 27

DAVID AMONG THE PHILISTINES (vs. 1-12)

David decided to leave Israel and settle in the land of Philistines to avoid being destroyed by Saul.  Together with 600 men, David left and went over to Achish, son of Maoch, king of Gath.  Achish gave David the country town of Ziklag and David lived with his two wives, Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail of Carmel.  They lived in Philistine territory for a year and 4 months.  And Saul no longer search for him.

David and his men went up and raided the Geshurites, Girzites and the Amalekites.  He destroyed them all and took sheep, cattle, donkey, camel and clothes.

THOUGHTS:

David made a wrong decision by going to live in the land of Philistines.  He trusted the enemy for protection instead of trusting the Lord.  As a result, he had to scheme, kill and lie to survive.  When you are discouraged, make no impulsive decisions about significant matters.  Wait on the Lord.  Pray and seek His direction.
