SCRIPTURE: JOB 19
JOB (vs. 1-29)

- How long will you torment me and crush me with words? (v. 1)
- You have reproached me ten times and attack me shamelessly. (v. 3)
- If it is true that I have gone astray, my error remains my concern alone. (v. 4)
- If indeed you would exalt yourselves above me, and use my humiliation against me, then know that God has wronged me and drawn his net around me. (vs. 5-6)

- He has blocked my way so I cannot pass; he has shrouded my paths in darkness. (v. 8)
- He has stripped me of my honor and removed the crown from my head. (v. 9)
- He tears me down on every side till I am gone; he uproots my hope like a tree. (v. 10)
- His anger burns against me; he counts me among his enemies. (v. 11)
- His troops advance in force; they build a siege ramp against me and encamp around my tent. (v. 12)
- He has alienated my brothers from me; my acquaintances are completely estranged from me. (v. 13)
JOB’S OPINON ON PEOPLE:
- My kinsmen have gone away; my friends have forgotten me. (v. 14)
- My guests and my maidservants count me a stranger; they look upon me as an alien. (v. 15)
- My servant does not answer when i summon even If I beg him with own mouth. (v. 16)
- My breath is offensive to my wife; I am loathsome to my own brothers. (v. .17)
- The little boys scorn me and they ridicule me when i appear. (v. 18)
- All my intimate friends detest me; those I love have turned against me. (v. 19)
JOB’S APPEAL TO HIS FRIENDS:
- Have pity on me, have pity, for the hands of God has struck me. (v. 21)
- Why do you pursue me as God does? Will you never get enough of my flesh? (v. 22)
JOB’S AFFIRMATION OF HIS CONFIDENCE IN GOD:
- I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. (v. 25)
- And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God. (v. 26)
- I myself will see him with my own eyes – I, and not another. How my heart yearn within me! (v. 27)
THOUGHTS:
Job was totally devastated by the harsh words that tormented him, broke him, and reproached him. Those closest to him stay farthest from him and those who have comforted him mocked him. Job was lonely crying out for pity but nobody shows concern for him. Let us be sensitive to those who are hurting.
Despite of his situation with his hope gone, Job still had faith in God when he declared: “I know that my Redeemer lives and that in the end he will stand upon the earth” (v, 25). He was confident to see God with his own eyes because God’s justice would triumph. God had promised His people that they will have a new body to meet Him in heaven.
Job thought that God had brought all these disasters upon him. Faced with death and decay, Job still expected to see God in his body. Although he struggled with the idea that God was against him, but he firmly believed that in the end God would be in his side. Do you have such kind of belief?
