Our Daily Scripture – 11/10/23 (Friday)

SCRIPTURE:  JOB 25

BILDAD (vs. 1-6)

BILDAD DESCRIBED THE GREATNESS OF GOD:

  1.  Dominion and awe belong to God; he establishes order in the heights of heaven. (v. 2)
  2.  Can his forces be numbered?  Upon whom does his light not rise? (v. 3)

BILDAD DESCRIBED THE NOTHINGNESS OF MAN:

  1.  How then can a man be righteous before God?  How can one born of woman be pure? (v. 4)
  2.  If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his eyes, how much less man, who is but a maggot – a son of man, who is only a worm!.  (v. 5)

THOUGHTS:

Bildad used a poetic description to contrast man’s worth to the power of God.  But he was not right in calling man maggot or worm because human beings are created in the image of God.  We need not crawl like worms to come to God because we can approach Him boldly in faith.
