Our Daily Scripture – 1/5/24 (Fri)

SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 39

MEMORY VERSE:

“Show me, O Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting is my life.” (Psalm 39:4)

David watched his ways and kept his tongue from sin.  He put a muzzle on his mouth in the presence of the wicked.  But his silence had increased his anguish.  So he spoke to God and asked Him to show him his number of days on earth.  He put his hope in God and asked him to save him for all his transgressions.  He asked God to hear his prayer and listen to his cry for help so that he may rejoice again.

THOUGHTS:

When David could no longer withstand all his problems and troubles, he took his complaints directly to God.  When we have complaints about our job, money or relationships, we should also take our complaints directly to God instead of complaining to others.  Complaining to others will make them think that God can not take care of us.  It may also look as if we are blaming God for our troubles.

Most of the people spend so much time serving their lives on earth but take little or not thinking about where they will spend in eternity.  Accumulating riches and accomplishing worldly task are useless because our lives on earth is short.  What is important is to hope in the Lord which will last forever.
