SCRIPTURE: PSALMS 20
MEMORY VERSE:
“Some trust on chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” (Psalms 20:7)
A PSALM OF DAVID WITH THESE WISHES:
- To answer him when he is in distress (v. 1a)
- To protect him in the name of the God of Jacob. (v. 1b)
- To send help from sanctuary and grant support from Zion. (v. 2)
- To give the desire of his heart. (v.4a)
- To make all his plans succeed. (v. 4b)
- To give him victory (v. 5)
- To grant all his requests. (v. 5b)
- To save him (v. 6a)
- To answer him from his holy heaven with the saving power of his right hand. (v. 6b)
- To save him and answer him when he calls. (v. 9)
David had the assurance that God will help him when he declared: “Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed; he answers him from his holy heaven with the saving power of his right hand. they are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.” (v. 6, 8)
Armies and weapons are not the keys to being powerful. Throughout history, empires and kingdoms had risen to great power only to be washed out in the dust. David knew that the true might of his nation was not in weaponry nor firepower but in worship and God’s power. It is God alone who can preserve a nation and give eternal victory. Do you trust in God?
