SCRIPTURE:  PSALMS 21

MEMORY VERSE:

“Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength; we will sing and praise your might.” (Psalms 21:13)

David won the victory and thanked God for the following:

  1.  Giving him victories (v. 1)
  2.  Granting him the desire of his heart and request of his lips. (v. 2)
  3.  Welcoming him with rich blessings and a crown of pure gold was placed on his head. (v. 3)
  4.  Giving him his life – length of days, for ever and ever. (v. 4)
  5.  Bestowing on him splendor and majesty. ( v. 5)
  6.  Granting him eternal blessings (v. 6a)
  7.  Making him glad with the joy of his presence. (v. 6b)

WHAT GOD HAD DONE TO DAVID’S ENEMIES:

  1.  His hand will lay hold on all his enemies and seize his foes. (v. 8)
  2.  At the time of his appearing, He will make his enemies like a fiery furnace. (v. 9a)
  3.  In His wrath, He will swallow them and His fire will consume them. (v. 9b)
  4.  He will destroy their descendants from the earth, their posterity from mankind. (v.10)
  5.  He will make them turn their backs by drawing a bow against them. (v. 12)

This Psalms is the praise after the victory.  David asked God to spare his life and God granted him his request.  God protected David for his faith and David responded to God’s blessings by praising Him.  Do you forget to praise God when he answers your prayer and gives you what you have requested?

David had all the gifts that God has given him. – his hearts desire, success and prosperity, a crown of finest gold, long life, splendor and majesty, eternal blessings and joy.  We must also look upon all we have – position, family, wealth, talent – as gift from God and thank Him by using the blessings to glorify Him.

Because David trusted in god, God would not let him stumble.  When we trust in God, we can not be shaken because He will be our foundation of solid rock.  He will  never leave nor forsake us.

Do not be dismayed when you see the success of the wicked.  Their power is only temporary.  God will always intervene for His people at the proper time and give judgment to the wicked.
